Ronald Reid Helms, 65, passed away June 7, 2023. He was born January 5, 1958, to Eleanor Roach Helms and the late John Reid Helms. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Above all else, he loved his family. He married the love of his life, Catherine, and the two shared a wonderful family for over 39 years. He cherished the moments he was able share a meal with family, especially if his wife, Catherine, was making her homemade biscuits. Ronald made the choice to be a father, even when he didn't have to and never had a single regret about it. He would welcome over his family to visit anytime they had the chance to come, but undoubtably, as soon as the door would open to his home he would holler, "Shut the door!!" He also loved being able to put his grandbabies on the bus for school. Often, he could be found fishing, working on cars, and dealing a hand of solitaire with his children. Ronald was a man who held not only himself, but others to the highest standard. He was a hard worker and always strived for excellence. He will be remembered for his contagious humor and for the love and support he always showed for those he loved.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4013 New Town Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173.

In addition to his father, Ronald is preceded in passing by his sister, Debbie Harvey.

Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Catherine Helms; mother, Eleanor Roach Helms; children, Matoka Morris (Shane), Josh Reid Helms (Heather), Maria Tyler (Timmy), Daniel Reid Helms (Maria), and Megan Moore (Michael); grandchildren, Whitney Couick (Jonathan), Kennedy Reid Helms, Jacob Morris (Kayla), Ava Morris, Lizzy Tyler, Nadya Mitchem, Connor Mitchem, Riley Mitchem, Harlan Reid Helms, Jamilynn Moore, Silvia Moore, Justin Reid Moore, and Sophia Moore; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Couick, and Kaitlyn Couick; siblings, Bobby Helms (Janet), Kenneth Helms (April), Johnny Helms (Karen), Teresa Helms (Tim); and his best friend and four-legged companion, Moon Pie.
