May 12, 1967 – June 19, 2023
Rex Alan Henkle, 56, of Monroe, passed away Monday, June 19 at his residence. He was born May 12, 1967, in Ohio a son to Larry Joe Henkle and the late Alice Butler Henkle, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Gary James Henkle.
Rex grew up in Monroe and attended Piedmont High School. He was an avid gamer and made so many friends all over the country. He always had a listening ear and a shoulder for those who needed it.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Holland Funeral Service 806 Circle Drive Monroe, NC 28112 with the Rev. Roy Helms officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Rex was employed at Berry Plastics for over 20 years as a fixer on injection molding machines, where he met Jeff Feinburg who was such a good friend. Rex loved pier fishing at the coast. He tried to make two trips a year to his favorite spot. His most prized catch was a King Mackerel he caught on his birthday one year.
In addition to his father, Rex is survived by a brother, Barry Henkle (LeAnna) of Monroe, his aunts, Elizabeth Mandy (Leonard) of Mineral Springs, Kathy Benson of Ohio, Linda Greenman of Rhode Island, an uncle, Bill Willey of Ohio, nephews, Jacob Henkle (Sydney), Samuel Henkle (Cheyenne), Sydney Redmond (Ryan), four great-nieces, Camden Henkle, Ava, Alayna and Emersyn Redmond.
Rex's close friends from childhood, Tommy Murphy, and Gil Helms, as his health declined these friends were such a huge help to Rex.
The family would like to thank all the Home Health Staff that cared for Rex.
In lieu of flowers, Rex's wish would be to donate to your favorite charity or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
