Obituary

Paul Crabtree's life will be celebrated by his family and friends Saturday, May 6th at 2pm at Calvary Church, Charlotte, NC.

Paul was a graduate of Tullahoma High School and the University of Tennessee. He was not a capricious man, working only for three main employers his adult life, Firestone, Duracell and Kanawha (later Humana). He was funny and generous, never asking why someone had a need, only how he could help. Gentle everywhere but in traffic, he would always turn the other cheek, unless he needed to defend the honor of his daughter or grandchildren.

Paul loved puzzles and challenging his brain. Chess, crosswords, sudoku, but his favorite puzzle was creating tasty dishes from unusual or unexpected items. He was a wiz at card games and took great delight in teaching his son in law how to best their favorite ladies in Rook or Rummy.

I've never known another man like my dad. He was often the smartest person in the room, but you'd never hear that from him. I don't know that I ever knew him to ask for help, hold a grudge or wish for something he didn't have. In a culture that is always striving for more, his contentment was radical.

I would love to know if you are planning to come, especially if coming from out of town so we might have a pre-memorial celebration on Cinco de Mayo. I think dad would like that. Please email me at the.eddings@gmail.com.
