Mike Helms Jr., 87, of Monroe, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11, 2023. He was born on April 28, 1935, to the late Mike Helms Sr. and Betty Mae Helms. Mike led a simple life. He loved his family and watching old cowboy movies. He also enjoyed cooking and loved listening to gospel music. Mike was well known and loved by many he worked as a sheet rock finisher until he eventually retired. Mike had the biggest heart for animals, especially dogs. But above all else, Mike loved Jesus. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is at peace in his heavenly home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm, on March 5, 2023 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00pm until 2:45pm.

In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in passing by his children, Mike "Mikie" Helms III, and Sondra Rape; two brothers, and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Toni Cook (Randy), and Debbie Whitley (dec. Lane); grandchildren, Shane Whitley, Crystal Burch, BJ Cook, Missy Cook, Michael Rape, and Sarah Rape; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous other special family members and friends.
