Melvin Eugene Lemmon, 77, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021. He was born August 31, 1944 to the late Melvin Isaac Lemmon and Patsy James Lemmon. He is also preceded in passing by his brother, William "Bill" John Lemmon; and granddaughter, Makayla Lemmon. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 24, 2021 at Back to Bethel Baptist Church, 3606 Sanford Ln, Monroe, NC 28110. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Back to Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Melvin "Gene" is survived by his loving wife, Nelda Lemmon; children, Stacey Lemmon, Angie Shaffer (Jeff), Tammy Yow (Marty), Eric Lemmon; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his fur-baby, Emmy. Melvin was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He attended Back to Bethel Baptist Church and was a loving man who always put the needs of others before his own. He would truly give the shirt off his back to help anyone. Melvin retired from Charlotte Plastics after serving 34 years and was the owner and operator of A-1 Locksmith for 45 years. He was the type of man that would do work for others and only expect to be paid in hugs or food. He was a gracious man. Melvin loved his family and would cherish every moment he was able to spend with them. Melvin never met a stranger and was known to be quite the jokester. When Melvin wasn't hard at work, he loved to go bowling, watch western movies or NCIS, and even enjoyed the times he was able to visit the gun range with his friends from Charlotte Plastics. Melvin's family finds comfort in knowing that he is at peace and resting with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
