Locke Oswald Helms, 81, passed away August 26, 2022. He was born in Monroe, North Carolina on July 9, 1941, to the late Clyde Leslie Helms Sr. and Rene Trull Helms. Locke was the self-professed "last of the Dirty Dozen." The youngest of 12 siblings, devoted to his mother and her memory, and an avid dancer. Often exhibiting a larger-than-life personality, he enjoyed sharing stories of his large family, especially the ones about his mother. Funeral Services will be held from the Graveside at 4:00pm on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2434 Old Lawyers Road, Marshville, NC 28103. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Cathy Pyatt and her husband, Regan Pyatt, and Kimbra Hill; niece, Kim Vaughn and her husband, Ed Vaughn; grandchildren, Evan Pyatt, Rain Hill, and Slate Hill; and great-nieces, Abby Vaughn, and Emily Vaughn. Locke is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Carolyn Gaddy Helms; and siblings, GB Helms, Clyde Helms Jr., Nelson Helms, Madelean Adams, Seleta McCardle, Hazel Meggs, Daphine Meggs, Emma Plattenburg, Virginia Rushing, Louise McCardle, and Hulsey Helms. Locke will be truly missed and cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Holland Funeral Service is serving the Helms Family.
