IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mr. Joy Nelson
Autry
May 15, 1949 – December 22, 2023
Mr. Joy Nelson Autry, 74, of Marshville, NC, passed away December 22, 2023. He was born May 15, 1949, to the late Steve Marshall Autry and Joan Moore Autry. As an educated man, he graduated from NC State University in 1971. Joy was a man of strong faith, and a dedicated member and former deacon of Philadelphia Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. Joy spent many years farming with his father and would keep that tradition of farming even in his later years. He was very proud of his garden and always made sure to share his bounty with all his family and friends. Joy later went on to raise hogs with his own family. He will be truly missed and cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. His family is comforted by the belief that they will see him again one day.
Funeral Services will be held from the graveside at 1:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 5709 Philadelphia Church Rd, Marshville, NC 28103. There will be a short visitation held in the Family Life Center immediately following the service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister, Jane Armstrong.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Rowell Autry, son, Will Autry (Malorie Ruple Autry), daughter, Katie Autry, brother, Chelsea Autry, brother-in-law, Eddie Armstrong, brother and sister-in-law, Joey, and Janet Rowell; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
