Joshua Alexander Richardson-Ross was born in Charlotte, NC on March 13, 2003 as the youngest child to Sandra and Timothy Alexander Ross. He departed this life into the loving arms of Jesus on April 28, 2021.
Affectionately known as "Josh," "JaJa," "PW" and "Strength," he was quiet, loyal and dearly loved.
Joshua was a deep thinker and quick learner. He had an exceptional ability to take things apart and put them back together. His mother often called upon him to fix things around the house or reset electronics he often wittily rearranged without her knowledge.
Joshua was dedicated to the Lord at a young age, made a personal decision to accept the Salvation of Jesus Christ, and was baptized while on a family vacation to the beach. Growing up in Lamp Light Church, Joshua regularly participated in ministry programs that allowed him to grow in his faith. Joining in domestic missionary work with St. Andrews United Methodist Church strengthened his resolve and commitment to serve his immediate community. With a whispered "yes m'am" or "yes sir," Joshua would always respond to a request for help. For the past 10 years, Joshua sat behind the keyboard during worship service at Lion of Judah, a home fellowship led by his grandmother and Pastor, Sharon Richardson (GG).
In his precious 18 years, Joshua proved to be a dynamic and multifaceted young man. Educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg public schools and at Mountain Island Charter School in Mount Holly, NC, he demonstrated early on, an aptitude for foreign language and cultural integration at E.E. Waddell Language Academy. Matriculating though high school at Olympic, South Mecklenburg and Mountain Island Charter, Joshua was a celebrated student athlete with intentions of dual enrollment his senior year.
As a boy, Joshua was a natural born athlete playing sports of all kinds. He eventually made his mark in football and basketball. His love for sports continued into young adulthood as his skills increased both on the court and on the football field with Elite Kids, Wolf Pack, Mullins Tar Heels and Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed writing, listening to music, playing the keyboard, impromptu pick up games at the park, cooking on the grill for everyone, eating, spending time with friends and family and driving anything with a motor and wheels. Joshua's love for cars developed from spending time hanging out with his Paw Paw, who he affectionately called, "Rubiks." Explaining that, "Paw Paw is just as magical as a Rubik's cube."
Joshua leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Timothy and Sandra Ross; his maternal grandparents, Hubert Brice and Sharon Richardson; his paternal grandmother, Gloria Ross; his three sisters, Destiny Richardson-Ross (of the home), Shaniya Ivey, Gabrielle Boyce and one brother, Jeremiah Richardson-Ross (of the home); one nephew, Jeremiah Esquivel; maternal aunts, Misty Henderson, Deborah Helms, Angel Chambers and Star Richardson; two maternal uncles, Danny Ray Chambers, Jr. and Michael Richardson; his paternal aunts, Lisa Ross and Sandra Ross; his paternal uncles, Bobby Ross and Sonny Joe Ross; a close and special cousin, Sandraiah Davis; God parents, Jarrod and Sherita Williams; best friend regarded as a brother, Donovan Dyson and Tracey Dyson as a second mom and a host of great-uncles, great-aunts, cousins and friends.
His paternal grandfather, Joe Glen Ross, preceded Joshua in death.
Joshua is remembered for his quiet disposition, routinely practicing his hand form and shooting technique, his incredible appetite, his love for fast cars and being his Paw Paw's shadow. He well received, truly loved and will be truly missed.
