Obituary

John Adam English, III, 57, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 with his wife of 27 years by his side. John and Beth (nee Cook) English were married in April 1996 in Parkside, PA and have most recently resided in Indian Trail, NC for the last 21 years.

John was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved with his whole heart, was loyal to those he loved and had an infectious laugh. Most that knew him knew of the many battles with injuries and other medical problems that he had dealt with for decades. These ailments caused him much pain and impacted his mobility, especially in the last several years. These medical issues worsened and he entered hospice earlier this month rather than continue with painful treatments.

John was born November 1965 and grew up in Parkside, PA. He graduated in 1983 from Sun Valley High School. He also attended classes at Penn State University at the Delaware County Campus.

John worked as a police officer for many years, first as part of the Park Police and then for the Domestic Relations Department for Delaware County where he was injured on the job. Despite having to leave this career, he maintained his connection by collecting police department patches amassing quite an extensive assortment. He had a great respect for law enforcement and often met and became friends with other law enforcement officers. On one occasion, he met 2 California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers while sightseeing in Northern California and spent an enjoyable lunch sharing stories.

John loved music, spending much of his time listening to or singing along to music, especially songs from the 80s. He had fond memories of several concerts that he attended, particularly some farewell tours. He enjoyed dancing in his younger days and was a regular at several local clubs in Delaware County PA where you could find him on most weekends. He has many friends and family still in the Delco area and always kept up-to-date on the Delco news, even though he was far away.

He loved the Jersey Shore, especially Stone Harbor, where he would vacation as a child with his family. He got to visit Stone Harbor back in 2019, which made him extremely happy. He went fishing in the morning, enjoyed the sunsets in the evening, and was able to spend some quality time with family.

John's lifelong passion was the Dallas Cowboys. He was a season ticket holder for many years. He loved everything Dallas Cowboys. He and his wife attended many games, making the trip to Dallas regularly when it was easier for him to travel. He was at the last 2 games in the old Cowboys Stadium in 2008 and stayed until the last moment after the last game to fully embrace the experience. He even bought his stadium seats when the Cowboys Stadium was dismantled prior to demolition and had them shipped to NC so he would always have them.

Living in North Carolina since 1999 gave him the opportunity to visit the mountains of NC often and he particularly enjoyed the Asheville, NC area, including the Biltmore Estate. He enjoyed the peaceful area and would often take nature photographs where he discovered he was quite a talented photographer.

John is predeceased by his father, John A. English, Jr., and his nephew Adam J. McGugin. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth English of Indian Trail, NC, Mother, Jean English, formerly of Parkside, PA, now of Aberdeen, MD, Sister, Nancy McGugin (Edward) of Aberdeen, MD, Sister, Susan Wallace (Michael) of West Chester, PA, and several nieces and nephews who John loved very much but was not able to see as often as he would have liked.

John will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched.

John will be cremated in North Carolina and no services will be held. As his family and friends are so geographically distributed, it was his wish that each person remember him in a way and time that is appropriate to their relationship and special memories together.
