John A. Ashcraft III, 26, passed away February 23, 2023. John was born in Monroe, NC on June 17, 1996 to John Ashcraft Jr. and Jan H. Ashcraft.

I have commanded you, Be strong and courageous! Don't tremble or be terrified, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

J. was a loving son and devoted brother who was always willing to help others. He loved the outdoors, and you could always find him hunting, fishing, hiking, or camping. He loved helping his dad run the family farm; driving tractors, maintaining livestock, and caring for the land. One day he planned to make the farm his own. J. loved his family and was happiest on their annual vacations to the outer banks where they would spend days on the beach and nights in the sound gigging flounder. J. was still a kid at heart who loved playing cards, board games and chess. He had a contagious smile always making family and friends laugh, bringing out their best. He was loved very much by his family and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends will gather from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, February 27, 2023 at Philadelphia Baptist Church.  A private service will be held to celebrate John's life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, John and Jan Ashcraft; sisters, Emma Ashcraft (Chris Ziegler), Kim Ashcraft Chewning (Tyler), Amy Ashcraft Lineback (Dustin); nephews, Grant Chewning, Gibson Lineback; niece, Grace Chewning; and paternal grandmother, Joyce Ashcraft.

John was preceded in passing by his paternal grandfather, John Ashcraft Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Lowell and Rachel Haigler.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Philadelphia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5709 Philadelphia Church Rd., Marshville, NC 28103.
