Jesse "Dave" James Purser passed away peacefully at age 69 on August 19, 2024, in his home in Bolivia, NC, after a long battle with brain cancer.

A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Holland Funeral Service located at 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will greet family and friends immediately following the service.

Dave was born on May 8,1955, in Monroe, NC and was one of ten children born to the late Carl Purser and Maybel Williams Purser. He was passionate about his career in the construction industry in which he worked until the last months of his life. He was a teacher and mentor to many, including his sons who have used his knowledge and wisdom to build their lives in the construction industry as well. Dave was known for his strength and ability to do anything he put his mind to. He rarely ever rested and was always working on a project or spending time outside with his family. He loved fishing, riding with his dog in his Jeep, walking on the beach, and talking to anyone who crossed his path.

Dave is survived by his wife, Leah Purser; three sons, Adam Purser and wife Catrina, Jesse Purser and wife Kelsey, and Josh Purser and wife Lisa; two daughters, Miah Strader and husband Neil, and Jackie Tomten; six grandchildren, Kayra Purser, Lucas Purser, Lilly Purser, Madelyn Strader, Kendall Strader, Kaleb Strader and wife Perry; and one great-grandchild, KJ, son of Kaleb and Perry. He is survived by seven siblings, Lib Couick and husband Jerry; Darlene Bragg and husband Jimmy; Sue Lowder and husband Jerry, and Doug Purser and wife Robin; Ruth Courtney; Joyce Tarlton, and Elaine Starnes. He is predeceased by his two sisters Barbara Pressley and Nell Meritt.

Dave's wit, charisma, and wisdom will be missed by all who knew him. Although life will not be the same without him, the family is relieved Dave is no longer in pain.
