Jerry Jay Pankas, 73, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. He is survived by his wife Gail, daughter Lisa of Charleston, South Carolina, and sister, Juliann Bademian of Lincoln Park, Michigan. His brother, James Andrew Pankas, preceded him in death.

Jerry was born on February 28, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Julia Pankas. During his life, Jerry was an enthusiastic and disciplined athlete who enjoyed playing hockey, softball, basketball, and golf. In recent years, he enjoyed playing poker and especially appreciated the strategies of the game.

Jerry worked in the wholesale building products industry for more than forty years. After working for several companies in Michigan, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1990 where he continued his career as General Manager of Operations for Lyf-Tym Building Products. He later became an owner of Lyf-Tym Building Products in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lifetime Exterior Building Products in Greenville, South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969-1975.

He was dedicated to his loving wife of 49 years, Gail, and to his daughter Lisa. He was a wonderful friend to his brother-in-law James Bademian of Lincoln Park, Michigan and his brother-in-law and sister-in law Gary and Kathleen Mitzner of New Hudson, Michigan. Jerry will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Jerry passed away after a sudden and short battle with pancreatic cancer. The family requests that memorial gifts in Jerry's honor be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Those close to him will remember Jerry's dedication to his family, his patience, and his sense of humor. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
