James Kenneth Porter, 82, of Indian Trail, passed away April 2, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 7608 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110. Mr. Porter will be laid to rest at the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30pm until 2:45pm.

He was born May 29, 1941 to James William Porter and Edna Lee Connell Porter. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry David Porter and his wife, Sue Linker Porter.

Kenneth spent his younger years involved in stock car racing. He enjoyed his hobby with his cousin, Don Duncan, sharing many wins at local tracks over the Carolinas. In 1997, Kenneth retired from Overnight Trucking where he worked for over 30 years.

Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. He often served as a Sunday School teacher, an usher, and various committees.

Kenneth is survived by his son, James Kent Porter and his wife, Juanita; daughter, Angie Porter Price and her husband, Scott; daughter, Cristie Porter Outen and her husband, Michael; sisters, Janice Porter Lowder, and Kay Porter Stewart; grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, Nicole, Lucas, Hannah, Tucker, and Bristol; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Sawyer, Addison, James, and Tanner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Union County.
