James Monroe Link

November 6, 1963 – January 24, 2025

James Monroe Link, 61, of Indian Trail, NC, passed away on January 24th, 2025. Born on November 6, 1963, in Iredell County, NC, James was a man who gave endlessly to those he loved while asking for little in return.

James was a devoted husband to Jackie Link and a loving father to Savannah Sherrill, Payton Link, Desiree Simpson and Michael Sayasith. He was also the proud grandfather of Lilly Sherrill, Lawson Sherrill, Noah Simpson, and Aria Simpson. James is survived by his father, Royal Johnson Link Jr., and his siblings, Joseph Link, Royal Johnson Link III (Rusty), and Kevin Link (Curt). He also leaves behind two nieces, two nephews, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Blackwelder Atkinson.

James was a protector, a provider, and a quiet but strong presence in the lives of those who knew him. A father figure to many beyond his own bloodline, he was always there when you needed him. Come rain, sleet, or snow, James would show up without hesitation, offering help and assurance. If you had his number, you could rest easy knowing everything would be okay. Even for those who needed a place to live he would welcome you in. Though he was quick to help, he would never ask for help himself—a quiet strength wrapped in humility.

James loved watching anything Tar Heels-related and enjoyed playing and watching golf, poker, softball, and baseball. A skilled player and coach, he brought dedication and enthusiasm to the sports he loved.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Holland Funeral Service & Crematory, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Holland Funeral Service and Crematory, 806 Circle Dr, Monroe, NC 28112. Immediately following the service, the family and friends will gather for a committal service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 890 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

James will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His quiet strength, unwavering reliability, and selfless love leave a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
