James Henry Burrier

October 21, 1939 – May 23, 2025

James "Jim" Henry Burrier, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the age of 85.

Jim was a devoted husband, beloved father and brother, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend to all who knew him. Born on October 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Samuel Burrier and Myrtle Burrier.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that shaped his enduring sense of duty, discipline, and service to others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Burrier; his daughters, Amy Waddill (Monte) and Jennifer Davis; his brother, Wesley Burrier; his grandchildren, Ryan Swarm, Erika Davis, Sydney Davis, Julie Gillet, Chance Keziah, and Kandace McElveen; and his 10 great-grandchildren. Jim's greatest joy in life came from his family.

Jim will be remembered for his gentle spirit, patience, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and valued.

Jim had a deep love for all animals and previously was a volunteer with Carolina Waterfowl Rescue of Indian Trail, where he gave his time and care to animals in need. Jim also loved the game of golf. He found joy in the sport and in sharing that joy with others—particularly children, whom he taught to play with patience, and encouragement. He was a former President of the Rotary Club of Charlotte, where he lived out the values of service and community, and was a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at Holland Funeral Service, located at 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112 on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Jim's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Lakeland Memorial Park immediately following the service, friends and family are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue of Indian Trail in Jim's memory.
