Gerald "Jerry" Benjamin Cates, 82, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away at Clear Creek Nursing & Rehab of Mint Hill on October 1, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1940 in Honolulu, HI to the late Fred Cates and Anne McEnroe Eldridge.

Jerry served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and spent 10 years with Kairos Prison Ministry. He was a successful, self-employed business person in the residential building industry. Jerry was an "original".

Jerry leaves behind to treasure his memory his loving wife, Brenda H. Cates; son, Brenton C. Simpson and his wife, Monica; grandchildren, Peyton, Brooke, and Cread Simpson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, October 8th at Blair Road United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center. Charitable contributions may be made to Blair Road UMC or The Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org).
