George "Sanford" Wolfe, 76, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 30th. Sanford was born on October 13, 1945, to the late Bessie Leonard Wolfe and William John Wolfe in Union County, NC, where he lived his entire life.
Sanford was a graduate of Sun Valley High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. After returning home, Sanford founded the Wolfe Tree Service LLC in 1968. He always said, "I've never worked a day in my life because I love what I do." He loved his customers and took pride in serving Union and the surrounding counties for 54 years as "The Tree Man".
He was well known for his generosity in helping anyone in need. His legacy continues to live on through Wolfe Tree Service LLC, which still continues to serve Union County today.
Sanford was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Robert Wolfe; and son, William Scott Wolfe. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce Pearson Wolfe; two daughters, Mandi Wolfe of Monroe, and Shannon Helms of Matthews; one son, Paul Nelson Wolfe of Monroe; two sisters, Doris "Dot" Wolfe Davis (Carl) of Monroe, and Sue Wolfe Mongillo (Bill) of Monroe; one brother, Leland Mack Wolfe (Janet) of Monroe; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and special pets, Nikki and Buster.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at Back to Bethel Baptist Church, 3606 Sanford Lane, Monroe, NC. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by the service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
