Gary W. Simco passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Union County Hospice in Monroe, N.C., after a lengthy battle with cancer. He left this life peacefully, surrounded by loving members of his family.
He was born June 30, 1953, in Camden, New Jersey to the late George and Anne Simco. He is survived by three amazing sons, Garrett, Reagan and Spencer Simco, brother Tom (Hilde) Simco of Colorado, sister Georgian Crusenberry of New Jersey, nieces Shelly Atella and Deanna Dowd, great nephew Jake Atella, former wife Kim Kaminski of North Carolina and extended family.
Gary spent much of his early life in Moorestown, N.J., where his engaging personality resulted in many lasting friendships that now stretch from coast to coast. He also lived in southern California for 17 years before relocating to North Carolina. When younger, he played in several bands, and passed on his love of music to eldest son Garrett.
After attending Memphis State University, Gary had a successful sales/operations career in the food service industry. He then became a stay-at-home dad, caring for the three sons he adored. He loved coaching their sports teams as well as teaching them important life skills.
An avid Philadelphia sports fans, he enjoyed watching Eagles, Phillies and Sixers games with his boys. Gary loved classic cars and visits to car and racing museums whenever the opportunities arose. He was also an avid collector of vintage trains, cars and toys.
He will truly be missed by family as well as all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 7 at 11am in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson NJ where his ashes will be interred with his father, George. Face masks and social distancing are required.
