Gary Lee Morrison, 72, passed away on May 3, 2024, after a year-long battle with brain cancer with his loving family by his side.

Gary was born October 8, 1951 to Jean and Lois (Peterson) Morrison of Lisbon, IL. He graduated from Newark High School in 1969, Illinois State University (B.S.), and Northern Illinois University (M.S.).

He married Nancy Carroll in September 1973 in Morris, IL. Together they raised their three children in the Dixon, IL area where he was an educator for Dixon Public Schools for 35 years.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to Fairfield Glade, TN. He became a volunteer firefighter, played in weekly golf leagues, helped his friends and neighbors with various home improvement projects, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. In 2022, he and his wife moved to Waxhaw, NC to spend more time with their grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Waxhaw, NC; son Christopher (Stephanie) Morrison of Celebration, FL, daughter Denne' (Keith) Olson of Waxhaw, NC, and son Eric (Sarah) Morrison of Sugar Grove, IL; grandchildren Ella Morrison, Ethan Morrison, Riley Olson, and Arya Olson; sister Ann (Michael) Koch of Alamo, CA; sister-in-law Janice (Robert) Brooks of Morris, IL; niece Meghan Koch (David) Murphy, and long-time family friend, Diane Biggs of Cortland, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per his request, there will be no funeral services, but rather organ donation to the University of Miami Brain Endowment Bank.
