Obituary

Ezekiel Perry, of Monroe, North Carolina, the youngest son of the late David and Queen Perry, was born on August 25, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He was lovingly known to everyone as "Pop" or "Uncle Pop."

He was educated in the Brooklyn Public School System, where he gained a love for math, which he was very good at. He was known for helping the younger family members with their math work, or any child that needed help.

Pop worked in the security field for many years in the housing authority and also for a large supermarket chain, these were just a few of his jobs. Pop was very personable. He would talk to anyone and everyone, lovingly called "The Mayor of the Neighborhood" he would talk to people and then come back and share the information. He knew what was going on now!

Pop liked sports, but he loved playing cards, in particular spades, and the majority of the times he would win. I think the things we will remember is his "trash talking" during the game to keep you from focusing. He taught his grand-nieces to play and when they started winning he wasn't talking as much, but he still loved playing. He loved watching court shows and black movies. He also loved seafood and hanging out with his nieces and nephews, even his grand-nieces and nephews. He will surely be missed.

Ezekiel leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Elethia Perry (mother, Karen Lee); granddaughter, Serenity Griffin, and great-granddaughter, Dallas Robinson of the Bronx, New York; a son, Ezekiel Barr (mother, Simonetta Barr) of Winter Garden, Florida, six brothers and sisters, Levi (Minnie), Ernest (Shirley), Thomas, Effie Scott, Isaiah (Martha), and Deloris King, all of North Carolina. A special friend, Sandra Tripp, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to everyone for all the acts of kindness, condolences, cards, and prayers during this time of sorrow.
