On May 27, 2023, Douglas (Doug) Allen Griffin, of Monroe, was called home to be with his Father in Heaven, with his family by his side. Doug was born April 29, 1957 in Union County to N. Brack Griffin and Kathryn Moore Griffin of Monroe.

Doug spent his life surrounded by family, which was the only place he ever wanted to be. To know Doug was to know fishing, hunting, gardening, NASCAR, music, UNC basketball, and all things deer. But to know him was to also know the love he had for his family and the pride he had for his children. Doug embodied humor and selflessness, and was blessed with a large, gentle heart and the most tender soul.

Doug was preceded in passing by his parents, Brack and Kathryn Griffin, and brother, Randy Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Suggs Griffin, his children, Chad Griffin (Abby Griffin), Micala Patty (Lawson Patty), Kara Griffin, and his granddaughter, Claire Patty.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Mountain Springs Baptist Church of Monroe, A visitation with the family will precede the service at 2:00 PM at the church. Mr. Griffin will be laid rest at the Wingate Town Cemetery at the conclusion of the service.
