Mr. Donnie Ray Stevenson entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was the son of the late William J. Stevenson and the late Evelyn Funderburk Stevenson.
Funeral services will be held on at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Zion Hill Christian Fellowship, 3501 Plyler Mill Rd, Monroe, NC 28112. A public viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.
Donnie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Red Level Baptist Church. He attended West Monroe Church. He maintained his faith and relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Donnie possessed the love of Christ and for him it was by the way he treated his fellowman. He was always willing to help any and everyone in any way possible. He truly loved his family and friends.
Donnie was educated in Union County Public Schools and graduated from Parkwood High School class of 1974. He was an outstanding football player and was well liked by his coaches, teachers, and peers. He was admirably known as "Bear!"
Donnie had a great work ethic. At an early age he worked on the neighborhood farm driving tractors. Donnie spent his employment career as a truck driver. He was employed by Tyson Foods for nearly 20 years, Perdue Farms, and retired from Boggs Paving & Transport after 20 plus years.
Donnie's interests included watching games, attending sporting events, fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends! He loved and enjoyed cooking; his specialties were potato salad, meatloaf, and sweet potato pie! We will certainly miss his good cooking.
Donnie leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Lemonte Livingston (Kim), Monroe, NC; daughter, Samantha Hayes, Wingate, NC; grandmother, Miss Della Funderburk, whom he loved very dearly; two sisters, Brenda Crowder (James) and Dorothy Ivey (Randy); two brothers, Michael Stevenson (Carla) and Dupree Stevenson (Linda) all of Monroe, NC; two beautiful granddaughters, Kiahna and Kinsley; three aunts, Willette Hough, Monroe, NC, Katrina Robeson, Charlotte, NC , Willene Evans, Lancaster, SC; two uncles, Hazel Stevenson, Lancaster, SC, Wilbert Hough, Monroe, NC; and very special friend, Tammy Watkins, Monroe, NC. Donnie loved and cherished his nephews and nieces as his own and they loved him, and they will miss his loving presence. Donnie loved and cherished his cousins and many lifelong friendships. Donnie will be missed dearly by all who were blessed to share in his 66 years of life.
