It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving brother, Donnie Gene Starnes, 67, of Monroe, NC, who went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 27, 2024. Born on May 14, 1957, Donnie was a beloved son of the late Reid, Jr. and Mary Frances Starnes.

Donnie is now reunited in Heaven with his parents and his sister, Diane Helms. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his siblings: Dickie (Jean), Jimmy (Beverly), Larry, Billy (Bobbie), Martha (Ernest), Libby, Jeffery (Betsy), and brother-in-law, Ray Helms, along with many nieces and nephews. Their bond, strengthened by love and faith, was a testament to God's blessings.

A man of simple joys, Donnie found peace in God's creation, spending many quiet moments fishing and admiring the beauty of nature. He also loved watching football, finding joy in the camaraderie and fellowship of the game. Through these simple pleasures, Donnie's humble and gentle spirit shone brightly.

As we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Donnie is now at peace in the arms of the Lord, where there is no more pain or sorrow. His steadfastness in life leaves a legacy of love and quiet strength.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donnie's life at a funeral service on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Holland Funeral Home Chapel, 806 Circle Dr, Monroe, NC. A visitation will be held preceding the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial and committal will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC. We gather not only to mourn, but to rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local charity of your choice.
