Obituary

Donald R Warner, age 77, passed away peacefully on 1/21/22 in Monroe, North Carolina. Born in 1944 to Richard Warner and Hilda Findley Warner. "Don" was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Brenda and Dana. Don and Loretta lived in Manassas, Virginia for over 50 years before relocating to South Carolina. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Loretta Boggs Warner of Indian Land, SC; his son and daughter-in-law, Lee Warner and Jill Warner of Nokesville, VA; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Dave Thomas of Waxhaw, NC; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Ragan and Charles Ragan of Warrenton, VA; five granddaughters: Samantha, Lauren, and Kaitlyn Warner; Avery and Lainey Thomas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Born in McDowell County West Virginia, then moving to Northern Virginia after graduating high school, Don had three main careers: heavy equipment operator and mechanic, interstate truck driver, and mechanic for American Airlines where he retired after over 20 years of service. He was known as a master mechanic and one could always find Don working on cars, lawn mowers, heavy equipment or helping his friends, family, and children on numerous construction projects. There wasn't anything mechanical he couldn't fix. He was a loving husband to Loretta, excellent provider, proud father to Lee and Kelly, as well as a wonderful Grandad/Pop Pop to his granddaughters. He found joy in watching Nascar, working on cars and helping others. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 5th at noon at the Robert V. McMaugh Memorial American Legion Post 10 Hall located at 9950 Cockrell Rd., Manassas, VA. An opportunity will be given for guests to share a story about Don during the services. Interment and graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 6th at 1:00 pm at Mt Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery located at 6410 Lee Jackson Hwy, Steeles Tavern, VA. For those attending the graveside services, please RSVP to kdwthomas@gmail.com as the family will be planning a luncheon afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the angels of Hospice of Union County and Hospice of Anson County who helped Don on his journey home.
