IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mr. Don
Morris
September 28, 1948 – November 1, 2025
Mr. Don Morris, 77, changed addresses to his home with Jesus on November 1, 2025. He was born September 28, 1948, to the late Billy Tom and Jessie Maners Morris.
Mr. Morris was a carpenter by trade starting at the age 13 until his retirement in restoration construction work in 2012. He continued to stay busy working with his hands building outdoor furniture, toolboxes, and bird houses. He enjoyed putting puzzles together and building frames to frame them as gifts for his family and friends. He never liked just sitting or being indoors. If he went missing, you could find him sitting in the sunshine or taking a walk.
Mr. Morris was one of the most honest, what you see is, what you get kind of man. He wasn't complicated. He enjoyed the simple things of life. He was a comical man with many faces. He married the love of his life, Sue, in 1967. They enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage. They met at church when they were kids. The Lord blessed their love with three beautiful little girls. They finally received their boys when their three grandsons were born. Mr. Morris's family was his entire world.
His family takes complete comfort during this difficult time knowing Don is with Jesus for all eternity because back in February 2024 Pastor Terry Simpson led him to the Lord. Knowing the man we all loved knew Jesus brings peace that passes all understanding.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sue, daughters Missy Smith, Debbie Hinson and her husband Roland, Rebecca Hill (Siss) and her husband Chris, grandsons the late Wayne Helms, Brandon Wright, and Corey Wright, bonus daughter Kimberly Morgan, and bonus grandchildren Kelsey Thomas, Kayley Belk (Tanner), Kyndal Thomas, Hunter Thomas, and Logan Thomas. Sisters, Judy Cook (Billy), Diane Eddington, Vivian Christmas, brothers, Mark Blackwell (Elizabeth) and Dale Blackwell. Sister-in-law, Judy Price, and brother-in-law Tommy Squires. A multitude of nieces, nephews and many others who loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brother, Edgar Morris and grandson Wayne Helms.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in the chapel at Holland Funeral Service, located at 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00am to 11:45am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Terry Simpson and Pastor Tony Mangum.
Mr. Morris will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn East Cemetery immediately following the service.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Heather Helms, and Mr. Justin Baker for their special roles in Don's going home celebration.
