David Shaw Harrelson, 81, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2024. He was born November 29, 1942 in Whiteville, NC, a son of the late Buren and Ruth Harrelson. David was a proud member of The United States Navy, where he exhibited unwavering bravery and a strong sense of duty. David's commitment to our nation was particularly evident during his service in the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated resilience and valor in the face of adversity.

He will be greatly missed by his children; Susan Adams (Johnny McCaskill) of Mint Hill; Sherry Gary of Charlotte; Shawn McKinney (Matt) of Stanley; Shane Harrelson (Jessica Ellis) of Stanley; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his sister Patricia Story.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria, as well as his brothers; Edward and Terry Harrelson, Jimmy Rogers.

The family will hold a private memorial service on the beach at a later date.
