Dan Erskin Taylor, 76, of Monroe, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was born August 13, 1946 to the late Earl Franklin and Mae Valentine Taylor. Dan graduated from Parkwood High School in 1964 where he was a member of the first Parkwood football team. Following his graduation, Dan was inducted into the US Army where he served for nearly two years in Panama. Upon his return, he worked for over 44 years for BellSouth before retiring and beginning his travels. He was also an active member at Sunset Park Baptist Church and eventually Sandy Ridge Baptist Church for over 40 years. Dan would cherish the Sundays he was able to teach the Sunday School Class and would even mentor the other Sunday School teachers. He also was able to mentor the youth and enjoyed working with the Cub Scouts. He will truly be missed and cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Holland Funeral Service. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Taylor will be laid to rest at the Altan Presbyterian Church Cemetery with full Military Honors immediately following the conclusion of the service.
In addition to his parents, Dan is reunited exactly 7 years to the day with his beloved wife of 45 years, Cheryl Taylor. He is also preceded in passing by, sister, Margaret Taylor Melton, nephew, Richard "Gator" Wallace; and brother-in-laws, Eddie Long and Alan Senter.
He is survived by his sister, Frankie Taylor Long; brother, Ronald Earl Taylor; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Taylor-Senter; brother-in-law, Ronnie Melton; 4 nephews, and a niece.
