In Loving Memory of Charles Houston Arbaugh (1943 - 2024)
Charles Houston Arbaugh passed away on February 22, 2024, due to complications related to advanced dementia. He was born on July 17, 1943, in Sweetwater, Texas. Charles attended the University of Texas, where he pursued both his undergraduate and law degrees. After completing his education in 1968, embarked on his career that took him first to Houston, Texas, where he clerked for United States District Judge John V. Singleton in the Southern District of Texas, and later to Evansville, Indiana, where he served as general counsel and corporate secretary for Pyro Energy Corporation.
Following his retirement from the practice of law in 1991, Charles pursued his passion for helping others by furthering his education at Colorado Christian University, where he earned a master's degree in clinical counseling. He went on to work as a licensed professional counselor in Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona, positively impacting the lives of many through his compassionate care and guidance.
Charles lived for a short time in both Durango, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona, before following his heart to North Carolina where he married Donna Nelson in 2015, and with whom he shared many happy years. Charles is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Laranne Breagy (Patrick Breagy) and two grandsons of Durango, Colorado; his son, Travis Arbaugh, of Phoenix, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Dee Macy, whom he married on April 20, 1968, and who passed away on August 7, 2013; and by his beloved sister Anne Arbaugh Roberts, who passed away just 6 days before him on February 16, 2024.
A memorial service will be held in Charles's honor on March 9, 2024, at the Winston Chapel of Holland Funeral Service in Monroe, North Carolina. Charles's love for his family will forever be remembered. He touched the lives of many and will be missed. Rest in peace
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Winston Chapel of Holland Funeral Service 806 Circle Drive Monroe, NC 28112. The family will visit with friends following the service at the funeral home.
