Cecil "Cooter" Morton Gaskins, Jr., 73, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

He was born in Union County to the late Cecil Morton Gaskins, Sr. and the late Ruth Edwards Gaskins. He served a full term in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed at Cape Hatteras, NC.

Cecil was a master gardener, artist and painter and loved to ride his Harley Davidson every chance he could. He retired from Alltel Communications after many years of service.

He is cherished and will be greatly missed by his family including his son Jamie (Mandy) Gaskins of Kannapolis, granddaughter, Paige Gaskins of Kannapolis and his sister Brenda (Marshall) Lemmonds of Surfside Beach, SC. Survivors also include his nephew, Shan (Missy) Lemmonds, nieces, Rhonda (Macon) Griffin, and Reagan (Jonathan) Creech, along with his great nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
