Byron Dale Watts, 72, of Monroe NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born in Cabarrus County, NC on February 10th 1953, son of the late Rev. Jack and Joyce Watts.

Byron was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to a family he loved dearly.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist church where he faithfully served playing the drums, singing, and served as deacon. Byron was a founding member of Mt Zion Quartet and had the privilege of being a part of several gospel bands. He proudly served in the US Army. He owned a home repair business and always had a heart to help others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and being with his family. His 6 grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Byron had a generous heart and an unconditional love for everyone he met.

Byron is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Benita Brooks Watts of Monroe NC, two children, Jason Watts(Anita) and Jessie Starnes (Jason) of Monroe, NC. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Lucas, Nathan, Peyton, Sawyer, Brandon Watts and HallieKate Starnes. Also survived by one brother, Jackie Watts and sister, Beth Watts Kepley of Monroe NC. He was abundantly blessed with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 11 am to 12:15 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Funeral service to follow at 12:30pm @ Mt Zion Baptist Church, 6907 Gus Eubanks Road, Monroe NC.
