Obituary

Bobby Gene Jackson, 85, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He was born September 20, 1938, in Dillon, SC to the late Mary Frances Bailey and Charles Livingston Jackson, and is also preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Billy Gene Jackson, and his daughter, Rachel Kaylene Jackson.

Bob was a military veteran honorably serving our Country at the age of eighteen in the Army National Guard in Dillon, SC. After six years and Honorable Discharge Bob enlisted four years in the United States Air Force at Perrin AFB in Sherman, TX, as Airman First Class, again with Honorable Discharge. Bob was a Civil Engineer formerly with Horry County, SC, retiring as Superintendent for Mecklenburg County, NC Storm Water Services, yet continued to contract his expertise upon retirement for the Town of Stallings.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Arington Jackson, daughters Kimberly Jackson Landers (Mark), Lynn Hasty Slevin (Brian), Tracy Lynn Hasty (Kevin), all of Monroe, and Sandra Atkins Williams (Todd) of Allen, TX, grandchildren Brooke Nicole Shearin of Seattle, WA, Kamber Maleah Privett (Andrew), Zachary Livingston Jackson, Owen Jackson Chaney, Tori Brie Slevin (Brad), Jackson Piatt Slevin, all of Monroe, NC, and Jennifer Weissenborn of Allen, TX, great-grandchildren Finley Christopher Slevin and Troy Martin Privett of Monroe, NC, and Riley McCullough and Madison Frazier of Allen, TX, elder brother Eugene Jackson and nephews Dale Jackson (Nicole) of Monroe, NC, and Jason Jackson (Desiree) of Lexington, SC.

Bob, best remembered as "Poppy," is known not only for devotion to his family and his godly servant's heart, but also for his love of singing with the Lee Park Worship Choir.

The family would like to thank Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Union for their respect and comfort during his few final days. Special Thanks to the Care Ministry of Lee Park Church.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2024, in the Winston Chapel of Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe NC 28112 with full military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
