Wilbert "Bert" Prater, born on June 29, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Bert was the beloved husband of Pauette Petrowski Prater and the cherished son of Virginia Gardner and Ernest Prater. He shared a close bond with his brother, Glenn Prater (Kathy). A devoted father, Bert is lovingly remembered by his children: Krystal Johnson (Bill), Angela Prater, and Dustin Prater (Beth). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karmel Prater. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Samantha Johnson, Ashley Villarreal (Ryan), Camerin Foster, Caleb Foster, Kendall Prater and Cash Prater.

Bert built a successful career in sales and was admired for his dedication and hard work. Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for the unwavering love and support he gave to his family and the joy he brought to those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Bert's life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Council on Aging in Union County (Monroe, NC) or Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care ( Monroe, NC).
