Alton Lee "Buddy" Parker 08/01/1945----07/18/2022
On Monday morning July 18th, Buddy was called home at the age of 76 leaving his loving wife Martha Brawley and family. Buddy was born August 1st, 1945, to the late Abe and Ruth Mullinax Parker in Mooresville, NC. He attended AL Brown high school where he graduated with honors in mischievous activities.
Buddy enjoyed a career in the textile industry before eventually chasing his dream of opening his own restaurant and bar, Buddy's Point. Buddy loved to cook, especially grill, garden, watch college basketball, brag on his children's accomplishments, and most of all loved his animals. Buddy and Martha developed a passion for adopting unwanted dogs and cats in search of their forever homes. Most of these homes ended up being on Fowler Secrest Road. Buddy enjoyed playing slow pitch softball where he was once described as the fastest leadoff power hitter in the South. He enjoyed playing basketball at the YMCA growing up where he was an outstanding defensive player and rebounder. Buddy battled a rare cancer for almost 10 years but maintained a positive outlook on life and was willing to help anyone he was able to. Prior to the cancer, Buddy and Martha loved riding his Harley Davidson and taking trips with close friends. Buddy had an infectious personality and ability to make lifelong friendships. Buddy's previous wife, Doris Parker Mills (Harry), and current wife are the best of friends. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?
Buddy is survived by his wife Martha Brawley; his sister Becky (the late Wayne) Hubbard and his children Garrett (Jillian) Brawley of Matthews, NC; Brandon Brawley of Matthews, NC; Jeff (Edie) Parker of Delaware, OH; Cheryle "Angelee" (Wesley) von Egidy of Wingate, NC and Andrew Parker of Kannapolis, NC. Buddy always said if Andrew would have been born first, he would have been an only child. Buddy would want all his grandchildren and great grandchildren recognized. The grandchildren are Alexan (Tylor) Woodard of Pueblo, CO; Kendal Parker of Jacksonville, FL; Trevor (Anmol) Parker of Germany; Logann Parker of Jacksonville, FL; Ben (Natalie) Lorenz of Utica, OH; Roman (Ashley) Jimenez of Worthington, OH; Cory von Egidy of Charlotte, NC; Parker von Egidy of Fort Bragg, NC; Darik (Matt) Bell of Hilliard, Ohio; Kaden and Kennedy Parker of Kenton, OH; Eva and Avery Brawley of Matthews, NC.
