Alan Salvador Saavedra, 60, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born August 30, 1960 to the late Alex Raymond Saavedra and Anne Cruise Saavedra. Alan was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Winnie Goans and William Harvey Goans of Princeton, WV; uncles, Thomas A. Cruise and Levy M. Cruise.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Alan is survived by his sister, Candy Blevins (Charles); brothers, Carl Saavedra; nephews, Christopher Blevins and Chad Blevins; and other special friends.
Alan graduated from Woodrow High School in West Virginia in 1978. Immediately following his graduation from high school, he join the Navy. During his time in the Navy he served as the meteorologist for many ships and submarines. During his 12 years in the Navy, Alan earned the title of Chief Petty Officer and was proud to serve his country. Alan was fortunate enough to be able to see the world during his time in the Navy. He truly loved all the places he was able to visit, especially the Mediterranean Cruises. After being honorably discharged, his passion for mechanics and computer technology flourished. He also attended Melrose Presbyterian Church in Princeton, WV. Alan had a love for dogs like no other. He always cherished the times and adventures he got to spend with his two dogs, Tara & Lucy. Alan will be truly missed an cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alan's memory to The Humane Society of Union County, 4015 Waxhaw Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112.
