Mildred Collins DeVoe, age 95, went peacefully to her heavenly home in Wednesday, March 4, 2020. She was born on September 10, 1924, in Whiteville , NC. In her early adult years, she worked as a seamstress and was a home maker. She was an avid reader and appreciated a good story. But her favorite reading pastime was that of reading her husband's bible. She was predeceased by her loving husband of seventy-three years, Ernest William DeVoe, as well as her eight siblings, her daughter-in-law, Elsie McCoy DeVoe, her daughter-in-law, Donna Shelton DeVoe, grand-daughter, Kelly Lynn DeVoe and grandson Frederick Neal DeVoe, Jr. She is survived by three sons, Jerry DeVoe of Monroe, NC, Fred DeVoe and wife, Renee, of Monroe, NC, and Curtiss DeVoe of Horn Lake, Mississippi. She had eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene, 2707 Secrest Shortcut Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
