Phillip Michael "Mike" Hughes, 75, passed away August 21, 2019. Mike was born in Columbia, SC on January 20, 1944 to the late Phillip Franklin Hughes and Mary Gertrude Hasty Hughes. Mike was very devoted to his wife, children, and grandson. Mike owned and operated Mike Hughes Trucking. Mike was a jack of all trades and had a passion for history and music. A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2021 Claude Austin Rd. Monroe, NC 28112. Pastor Roger Nance and Rev. Marty Watkins will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Mike will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rhonda Nance Hughes; daughters, Jennifer Moser Michaud, and Raina Moser; grandson, Quinton McFadden; brother-in-law, Pastor Roger Nance (Sylvia); nephews, Josh Nance (Heather), and Brian Bubba Nance (Kelly); great-neices, Madison Nance, Lily Nance; great-nephews, Jacob Nance, Levi Nance, Dalton Nance, Weston Nance; and his special family, Flo Caudle (John), Karolyn Smith (Allen), Randy Thomas (Debbie), and Jan Klutz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his great-nephew, Eli Alan Nance. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2021 Claude Austin Rd.
