Michael Dean Belk, 52, of Monroe, NC, entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born in Union County, NC, on May 13, 1974, to Diane R. Belk and the late Larry D. Belk, both of Monroe, NC.

In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Ray Belk.

Michael is survived by his mother, Diane R. Belk; his sister, Vickie Diane Medlin; and his brother, David Franklin Belk.

Michael was deeply devoted to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a proud member of Grace Baptist Church in Monroe. He loved singing in the choir and was especially proud to sing his favorite songs, Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me, alongside his choir leader, Steve Funderburk. Michael also loved listening to Southern Gospel music. He could often be found sitting in his room for hours, playing recordings of preaching services and listening to his treasured gospel music collection. If he could not attend church in person, he made sure to listen online.

Michael had a true servant’s heart and loved working for the Lord. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. Some of his favorite tasks included cleaning his church and helping his Aunt Doris Taylor clean her church each week for many years. He would eagerly wait at the kitchen window for her to pull into the driveway and pick him up. He also enjoyed helping Mr. Earl Griffin cut grass and assisting Preacher Wayne Ownby with handyman projects. Michael was known as the best sweeper around. He was always ready to go with a cup of coffee in one hand, a cup of tea in the other, and a smile from ear to ear.

When Michael became ill, he deeply missed attending church and doing the things he loved most: praising and serving the Lord.

Michael was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. If you knew Michael, you could not help but love him. Heaven surely gained a faithful saint on Saturday when he took his final breath on this earth and awoke in the arms of Jesus, in the place he had sung about, heard about, and read about for so many years.

Michael entered Heaven with a completely healed body. He can hear the heavenly choir without the need for hearing aids. He can sing again without a tracheostomy, and, most importantly, he can thank his Savior, laying every crown he has been given at the feet of Jesus

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held Friday, August 14th at Grace Baptist Church, 3411 Weddington Rd, Monroe, NC with Pastor Brian Baker and Preacher Wayne Ownby officiating.

The family will receive friends, Friday, August 14th, at the church from 12pm – 12:45pm. The funeral service will begin at 1pm with the burial following at Lakeland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Joe Haskett officiating. .
