Mr. Melvin Byrum Howard, 79, passed away January 13, 2020. Melvin was born in Union County, NC on December 16, 1940 to the late Jesse Earl and Mary Chloe Crisco Howard. He will be remembered as a beloved, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother. One of the things that he loved the most was watching his grandson Zane play sports. He was a Mason and past Chief of the Beaver Lane Fire Department. A visitation will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Gilboa United Methodist Church. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:30 PM in the Church Sanctuary. Rev. Luke Christy will be officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Marshville City Cemetery. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Katherine Howard; daughter, Treva Davis; son, Scott Howard; grandson, Zane Davis; sister, Viola Smith; brothers, Gary Howard (Helen), Charlie Howard (Patricia), Keith Howard (Pam), and sister-in-law, Margaret Howard. In addition to his parents Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Gene Howard, Pete Howard, and Wade Howard; sisters, Pat Griffin, and Polly Robinson.
