Mary "Blake" Helms Edwards, age 80, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, after a final battle with cancer. She was born on February 14,1946 to the late James and Ollie Helms. She was preceded in passing by her parents, along with her grandson, Christopher Plyler, and her brothers, Thomas Helms, Donald Helms, and Joe Helms.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, David Edwards; her children, Christie Plyler (Carter), Nick Presson (Gretchen), Sherry Turner, and David S Edwards; her grandchildren, Amy Troyer (Bobbi), Lindsey Kirkley (Stephen), Andrew Presson (Tiffany), Morgan Turner, Alexis Edwards, and a great granddaughter, Lily Presson; as well as her sisters, Delores Dulin and Geraldine Lefler.

She will be remembered for the genuine love and care she showed those around her. Her strong Christian faith carried her through many years of illness and remained steadfast to the end. She loved her immediate and extended family with every fiber and was always excited to spend time together for any occasion. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.

A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Church, 1712 Carmel Church Road, Monroe, North Carolina, 28112. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM.
