Mary Helms Connell, 90, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015. She was born in Gaston County on February 23, 1925 to the late Earnest Earl and Lilly Mae Mincey Helms.� She loved to travel and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Midway Baptist Church, 4615 Olive Branch Road, Wingate, NC, 28174. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow the service in the Church fellowship hall. Mary is survived by her children, Danny Ray Chapman of Marshville, Debra Mae Cheshire of Goldsboro, Douglas Andrew Cheshire of Marshville; 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband Hubert Roy Connell; daughter, Patricia Jean Heath; sisters, Roxy Elizabeth Wehunt, Annie Mae Dillareal, Opel Virginia Shires, Lottie Norwood; brothers, Leonard Earl Helms, and Henry Lee Helms.
