Mark Alan Bowles, age 65, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on April 11, 2026. He was born on May 22, 1960, in Kanawha County, West Virginia. He was proudly raised in Longacre Bottom and always took great pride in being the son of a coal miner.

Mark spent his 30s as a devoted single father. He did everything he could to ensure his only daughter was cared for and supported. He was a wonderful dad who would have done anything for his daughter, Chasidy.

Mark was truly one of a kind. Those who met him knew they would never encounter another person quite like him. He was loving and caring by nature, always ready with a joke to tell or a trick up his sleeve. His daughter, Chasidy, holds countless cherished memories, and his spirit lives on through her and her two boys.

There was not an animal that didn’t seem to love Mark. In his final days, he enjoyed feeding treats to his buddy Walter, his good friend Tom’s dog. Mark kept treats just for Walter and took great joy in spoiling him.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Jackie; his parents, Hershel Mathew Bowles and Loretta Jean Bowles; his sisters, Deborah (Keith), Denise, and Patty; and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Chasidy (Michael) Bowles; his two grandsons, Gavin Bowles and Matteo Bowles; one brother, Kim (Alma) Bowles; and one uncle, Roger (Pam) Bowles.

He will always be loved and remembered for the special person he was. He was a devoted father, friend, uncle, and papaw who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His memorial service in WV will be led (announced at a later date) by his nephew, James Robert (Leslie) Bowles, who was very near and dear to him—more than James even knew.
