Mr. Louis Francis Starnes, 89, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Union County, North Carolina, on September 5, 1936, to the late Frank and Alice Starnes of Monroe.

Louis took great pride in his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, planting a garden each year, going to the beach, and looking at new vehicles for sale. He had a heart of gold, a strong work ethic, and a personality that made him unforgettable. He never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents Louis was preceded in passing by his loving wife of 69 years Maxine Starnes, brothers, William Starnes, Loyd Starnes, Raeford Starnes, and Zeb Starnes, sisters, Loma Starnes, and Geneva Starnes, and his daughter, Jeannie Laney.

He is survived by his daughter, Markey Laney of Waxhaw, NC; three sons, Lewey Starnes, Tobey Starnes, and Baker Starnes, all of Monroe, NC; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial Services will be private.
