Karina Lisobiet Pinto de Sequera, Born February 8, 1969, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at 9:28 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 after a five year battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Karina was a beloved ESL teacher at Walter Bickett Elementary in Monroe, NC. She dedicated herself to her students and education, earning several degrees, certifications, and awards throughout the years. Karina enjoyed scrapbooking and vacationing at the beach with her family. In addition, Karina was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first, despite the terrible setbacks of ALS. Her courage and strength were an inspiration to everyone who met her. She is survived by her husband of over twenty years, Jose Sequera; her two children, Karen and Ricardo Sequera; her canine companion Apollo; siblings Inmaculada, Alonzo, Wilma, Juana, Beatriz, Victoria; her nieces and nephews Douglas, Bianca, Ronald, Alonzo, Manuel, Angel, Stephanie, Daniel and several other family members. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses from Bayada Home Health Care, who took exceptional care of Karina.
