Karen Casacalenda was a loving mother, teacher and friend. She was active in her church with the youth group, served as a Confirmation teacher with her husband, a lector speaking the word of God and a Eucharistic Minister. A visitation will be held from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Blakely Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will follow at 6:30 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She will be missed by her daughters Jennifer and Mary and grandchildren Alex, 13 and Aria 17 months. They were her pride and joy. She never missed a birthday party, dance recital, dance rehearsal or dance competition, soccer game or Taekwondo event. She always made sure she had a front row seat and Alex always knew she was there. She would always tell Alex how proud she was of him and always encouraged him to be his best. She loved being retired as she got to spend more time with Alex and Aria. She taught Exceptional Children for 40 years; she was their voice when no others wanted to speak, their eyes when no one wanted to see them and their ears when others did not want to hear them. She treated everyone with love and never met a stranger. She touched a lot of lives. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
