Junior Leroy Gilliam, 68, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015. Junior was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina on November 8, 1947 to the late Alfred and Geneva Gilliam. Junior is survived by his loving son, Mitchell Leroy Gilliam; daughter, Beth Gilliam Yow and her spouse Paul Yow, Jr.; brother, Bill Gilliam; sisters, Margaret Black, Judy Walker; and grandchildren, Geneva Yow, Jebediah Yow, as well as a host of extended family and many close friends. In addition to his parents Junior was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Gilliam, Bobby Gilliam; grandchildren, Bryar Yow, Walker Yow. Junior was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.� His love of the outdoors paled in comparison to his love of his grandchildren who were the light of his life.� Junior retired from his self-employed tree service business and grounds supervisor at Wingate University. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3:30 PM in Wingate City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Holland Funeral Service from 2:00PM until 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of his grandchildren to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Epilepsy Foundation.
