IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshua Michael
Walker
March 9, 1978 – December 27, 2025
On December 27, 2025, Joshua Michael Walker left this world for Heaven. A devoted husband and father, he was also a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. His easy-going spirit, warm sense of humor, and welcoming smile left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Even during the final six months of his life, when he was very ill and in pain, Josh’s sweet disposition never wavered. He remained unfailingly polite, taking the time to remember the names of medical staff and offering them encouragement. He loved God and had such a loving heart and giving spirit.
Josh is survived by his devoted wife, Monica; their precious daughter, Alayna; his mother, Beckie Yates (Kurt); and siblings: Olivia Walker, Katie Hollins (James), Crystal Moss (Todd), and Daniel Walker (Jesse). He will also be remembered fondly as the ‘fun’ uncle by his nieces and nephews: Walker, Brodie, Caroline, Bronwyn, Beck, Katelyn, Ryan, and Tyler, who all held a special place in his heart.
Born on March 9, 1978, Josh lived in Union County for most of his adult life. He was a well-respected and successful IT Manager for Union County Public Schools, where he dedicated 22 years of service. Beginning his career with no formal background in information technology, Josh’s determination, work ethic, and eagerness to learn enabled him to rise steadily through the organization.
While Josh enjoyed listening to music and playing video games, the true center of his life was Monica and Alayna. The three of them were a team, inseparable whenever he wasn’t working. No matter how ordinary the task or errand, Josh always found ways to make it fun. His leisure time with them was spent going out to eat (sushi was a favorite), shopping, going to playgrounds or simply relaxing at home. When home, he and Alayna loved working on puppet shows and he created funny stories and songs to entertain her. He will always be remembered by Alayna as her beloved “Papa-Shnapa.”
Josh was preceded in death by his father, Walter Sheldon Walker, and his older brother, Benji Walker.
Family and friends are invited to join together for a celebration of Josh's life at Faulks Baptist Church in Marshville, NC. A visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM.
As we come together to honor the life of this remarkable man, we give thanks for the joy he brought into our lives. Josh Michael Walker will be missed beyond measure, but his spirit will live on through the laughter and love he so generously shared.
