Joseph "Dan" Woodward, 81, passed away May 9, 2026. He was born May 31, 1944 in Conway, South Carolina. Dan will be remembered for his loving and charismatic personality. He had a soft spot in his heart for the less fortunate; whether that was people or animals. He was an over achiever in all aspects of life and was very intelligent. He knew everything there was to know about computers and technology; a skill he lovingly tried to pass on to his spouse, Robert. After retiring from DHEC as an administrator, Dan and Robert spent time traveling the country. The two would cherish every car ride and convention they were able to attend together from the coast of North Carolina to the coast of California. When the two of them were not traveling, Dan also enjoyed the simple things in life. He could often be found with his iPad in hand playing a game of Solitaire or joining Robert for a night out to dinner. Dan will be greatly missed and cherished in the hearts of all of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Wolf Pond Baptist Church, 78 State Rd S-13-35, Pageland, SC 29728. 

In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in passing by his three sisters and two brothers.

Dan is survived by his spouse of 26 years, Robert McCray; sister, Dixie Hinson (Keith); beloved pets-dog, Lucky Sunday, and cat, Shadow.
