John Howard Weldon, 77, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away on April 27 in Monroe. Born on July 21, 1948, in Sanford, North Carolina, John lived a life marked by faith, service, and love for others.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Betty Weldon. He also leaves behind his children, Theresa Stallings and her husband, Joel Stallings, of Monroe, North Carolina; Claudette Sykes of Pine Bluff, North Carolina; and Chris, Charity, and Tina. He is also survived by his sister, JoAnn Bristow of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

John was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great- great-grandchild, each of whom brought great joy and meaning to his life.

A proud veteran, John served in the United States Army with honor and dedication to his country and community. He had a deep passion for people and for the community he loved. One of the greatest parts of John’s life was sharing the story of how Jesus changed his life and gave him the strength and purpose to live his best life. His faith was a guiding light, and he found great joy in encouraging others through his testimony, kindness, and compassion.

John will be remembered for his warm heart, his servant’s spirit, and the love he showed so freely to family, friends, and all who knew him. His life left a lasting impact, and his memory will be cherished always.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Holland Funeral Home in Monroe, North Carolina, on Sunday, May 3, at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Joel Stallings will be presiding, and the United States Army Color Guard will participate in honoring his service.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
