Dateline: Marshville, NC John Parks Simpson, 82, passed away from an extended illness on October 31, 2016. John was born in Union County, on August 20, 1934 to the late Vern P. and Glennie Brooks Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a 1954 Graduate of New Salem High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Simpson was retired from Charlotte Pipe & Foundry Cast Iron division. A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Simpson's life will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Query, �Rev. George Gouge, �and Kay – Jo Baucom officiating. A committal service with full military honors will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Simpson is survived by his loving wife of 56 years; Freda Baucom Smith Simpson, son; H. Brent Smith (Leigh J.) of Marshville, daughters; Thetus Simpson Farris (Richard) of Marshville, Nancy Simpson Pressley (Randy) of Marshville, brother; Davis Simpson (Phyllis) of Marshville, grandchildren; Michelle Lewis (Trey) of Monroe, Hannah Pressley of Monroe, Elizabeth Farris of Covington Ga., great grandchildren; Pressley Grace Lewis, and an expected great granddaughter in February 2017. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his sisters; Peggy Brooks Purser, and Venta Lee Smith.
