Mr. Joe Marshall Caldwell, 77, passed away November 5, 2019. Joe was born on April 9, 1942 in Catawba County, NC to the late James Ralph Caldwell and Neva Eugenia Huitt Caldwell. Joe graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University and earned his Masters from UNC-Charlotte. Joe completed 30 years of service to Union County Public Schools at Parkwood High School; 15 years as a teacher and coach, 8 years as an assistant principal and 7 years as the principal. Even during retirement he completed administrative interims at other elementary, middle, and high schools within Union County.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Altan Presbyterian Church. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Altan Presbyterian Church. Rev. Robert Childs, and Rev. Harrison Hinson will be officiating the service. Joe will be laid to rest following the service in the church cemetery.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Frances Yarbrough Caldwell; sons, Nathan Caldwell (Heather) of Wilmington, Ryan Caldwell (Vivian) of Monroe; grandsons, Luke Caldwell, Zane Caldwell, Jordan Caldwell; brother, Gerald Caldwell (Shirley) of Newton; sister, Donna Caldwell of Jamestown; nephews, Duane Caldwell of Ringold, VA, and Greg Caldwell of Newton.
In addition to his parents Joe was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law Neal and Louise Yarbrough and brother-in-law Frank Yarbrough.
The family wishes to express its deepest thanks to the NeuroWellness Team at Wingate University, Dr. William Lester, Dr. Gregory Brouse, and Joe's team of caregivers with Atrium Hospice.
